About Team Edward
Team Edward is a fully registered UK charity. We are a non-profit organisation run entirely by volunteers dedicated to the re-homing and caring for pure bred Labradors.
Our aim is simple really......
To help the many Labradors who find themselves in need of a new forever home.
Team Edward was founded in 2013 by Wendy Brassington along with a group of friends all sharing the same passion, a love of Labradors. Named after Wendy’s chocolate rescue Labrador Edward, Team Edward is a very special small personal rescue, treating all of our rescues how we would treat our own dogs.
Five star treatment is standard, caring for and giving our all to the many Labradors that are lucky enough to find us. Team Edward has gone from strength to strength gaining recognition and rewards for our fabulous work.
Wendy herself was nominated for a Pride of Britain award in 2015, and recognised by the then Prime Minister, Mr David Cameron, for a Point of Light Award for her dedication to the breed and her huge fundraising efforts.
Very often dogs find themselves homeless through no fault of their own. Some need expert veterinary care before being placed in a new home and we strive always to give our rescues the very best.
Our team of hard working volunteers are dedicated to helping us find our dogs a loving, permanent, perfectly matched home. We aim to give every dog in our care a second chance irrespective of age or illness.
Edward headed our rescue and showed us how a good rescue should be managed and run. Being a rescue himself he saw from all sides the journey in finding his forever home. Sadly Wendy lost Edward back in 2022 at the age of 11 after succumbing to intervertebral disc disease and hepatitis. Our hearts were truly broken the day the specialist told us they couldn’t do anything to save him.
We owe it to Edward to continue our wonderful work as a rescue and charity as a legacy to him. We must never ever let him be forgotten. He changed lots of people’s lives for the better with his cheekiness and his skill on matching our labs to new owners. We know he continues to look down on us from his “office” at Rainbow Bridge, guiding us and continuing to help his four legged friends live the life he had and so enjoyed.
Edwards wonderful work here on Earth for his fellow furiends will never be forgotten. That’s our promise to Edward.
